Embry-Riddle Retain FSC/Region XIV Crown

LAKE WALES, Fla. - Embry-Riddle University held off all challengers in retaining the Florida Sun Conference/Region XIV title defeating Savannah College of Art and Design by seven strokes for the second consecutive year.
The Eagles shot a 36-hole 675 with Albane Flamant taking the lowest Eagle first round score with an 80, and Anna Haller shooting the lowest second round total for the Eagels with an 83. The team shot 336 for the first round and a 339 for the second which was good enough to retain its title in regulation. The 2006 FSC/Region XIV event went to a playoff between ERAU and SCAD.
SCAD finished runner-up with a team total of 682. The Bees were lead by Jenny Vigilante who shot a 79 for the first 18-holes and repeated the feat for the second 18. Vigilante was the outstanding individual on the women's side shooting the lowest single day round and lowest individual total round.
Northwood took third place with a combined 685, just two shots behind SCAD. Leading the way on the opening 18 was Emma Chacon who shot a 79. On day two this score was eclipsed by one shot by her sister and teammate Gaby Chacon who carded a 78. Northwood shot a combines 685.
Rounding out the field were Webber International with a 718, Thomas (Ga.) with a 767, and Warner Southern with a 1161.
Embry-Riddle will go on to represent Region XIV in the National Tournament to be held at Lake San Marcos Country Club in San Diego, California, May 15-18, 2007, while SCAD and Northwood await their fate for an at-large selection to the national event.
