POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2009-10 Division II Men's Basketball All-America teams and Warner University’s senior forward Derell Henderson was named to the third team for the second consecutive season. Players are selected by the All-America committee.
Henderson earned his second All-American honor in just two seasons at Warner after leading the team in scoring with 18.7 ppg, a 3.0 ppg increase from last season. He also led the team in rebounds with 7.9 rpg to help the Royals to a 20-10 finish this season. One of the most prolific scorers in the Sun Conference, Henderson finished the season as the conference’s second leading scorer this season, earning him First Team All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season. He had a knack to getting to the free-throw line, averaging 11.1 free throw attempts a game, while making 7.9 of his attempts a game.
This season, Henderson eclipsed 1000 Warner career points during the first round of The Sun Conference Tournament to help the Royals defeat St. Thomas University. Henderson finished the regular season with 10 double-doubles and scored 20 or more points 12 times this season. The Winter Haven, Fla. native posted three 30 point games this season.
Henderson is the sixth Royal to earn All-American honors and the third Royal in school history to become a two-time All-American, joining the likes of 1999 National Player of the Year Josh Hall and Anthony Brown.
