Embry-Riddle's Flamant is 2010 Sun Conference Walker Award Winner
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Embry-Riddle women's golfer Albane Flamant has been selected as the 2010 Sun Conference Dr. LeRoy Walker Champions of Character Award recipient. The award is one of the most prestigious awards in the NAIA and was created as part of the NAIA's association with Citizenship Through Sports Alliance (CTSA), a group that includes 10 other organizations from the world of sports that seek to promote and recognize sportsmanship. All NAIA student-athletes are eligible for this award based on outlined criteria.
Flamant, a senior from Mons, Belgium, truly exemplifies the definition of a student-athlete. With numerous accolades and award both on and off the golf course Flamant has proven to be the total package of student-person-player.
Flamant boasts a 3.948 GPA as a Communications student at Embry-Riddle. In 2009 she was named the College of Communications Undergraduate Student of the Year and has been named to the Dean's List for seven consecutive semesters at ERAU. Flamant was awarded the 2009 Student-Person-Player award from the Embry-Riddle Athletic Department and was one of the department's Champions of Character Scholarship winner in 2008-09.
As an athlete for the nationally ranked Eagle's golf program Flamant has excelled on the links. She was an NAIA All-American in 2007, an honorable mention All-American in 2008 and 2009, and was named to the National Championship All-Tournament Team in both 2007 and 2009. Flamant has been named to The Sun Conference first team every year she has competed for the Eagles, and was the conference Player of the Year in 2009.
Flamant also is active on the ERAU campus as she is the Campus News Editor and Staff Writer for The Avion, Embry-Riddle's student newspaper. She was a member of the SGA Elections Committee in 2010 and has been a member of the Model United Nations since 2006. Flamant was named the Model UN's Distinguished Delegate Award recipient in April 2008 and November 2008.
