DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Sun Conference announced the 2012 women’s soccer All-Conference teams on Thursday evening. The All-Conference roster consisted of a first and second team, as well as an honorable mention listing and featured 33 student-athletes representing seven league institutions

Coach of the Year honors went to Embry-Riddle’s Samantha Bohon. Currently in her sixth season at the helm of the Eagles’ women’s soccer program, Bohon guided ERAU to the North Division title and an 8-1 record in league play. One of the signature wins in Embry-Riddle’s 14-5 ledger came early in the season, when the Eagles toppled four-time defending national champion Lee. Ranked 15th nationally, the Eagles are making their fourth straight conference final appearance.

For the third consecutive year, Helen Lynskey was selected as the league’s Player of the Year. A junior from Rotterham, United Kingdom, Lynskey helped the Lady Seahawks to a unbeaten 9-0 record in conference play and the league regular season championship. She leads the league in points (67), goals (29), assists (11) and is tied for lead in game-winners with five. Named The Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Week three times in 2012, Lynskey scored in all but one conference game this season.

Lynskey’s teammate Taryn Pardoe was tabbed as the Newcomer of the Year. The junior forward from Southampton, England is second behind Lynskey in scoring for the Lady Seahawks with 14 goals and 10 assists for 38 points on the year. Named The Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 8, she played in 18 of Northwood’s 19 games and registered two game-winning goals.

Embry-Riddle’s Lauren Gallant garnered The Sun Conference Champions of Character Award for the second straight year. A senior from Mansfield Texas, Gallant has started in goal in 18 of the Eagles’ 19 games. An NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Conference selection, she has a 3.85 grade point average in Aeronautical Science and has volunteered for numerous community service projects, including tutoring elementary students, volunteering at church and working with Habitat for Humanity. Gallant was the recipient of Embry-Riddle’s Steve & Vicky Ridder and Championship of Character Scholarships and was a finalist for the 2011-12 NAIA Leroy Walker Champions of Character Award.

The 2012 Sun Conference tournament concludes on Friday when top seed Embry-Riddle hosts No. 2 seed St. Thomas in the championship game at 6 p.m.
