No. 9 Bees Capture Women's Golf Conference Crown

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.-- The ninth-ranked SCAD Savannah Bees brought home the first Sun Conference Championship under Head Coach Amanda Workman on Saturday at LPGA International Golf Club. The Bees shot 612 (309-303) and held off sixth-ranked Northwood by three strokes to earn an automatic bid to the 2012 NAIA National Championship Tournament. 

Alazne Urizar and Nikki Stewart led the Bees at the seven team, 32-player tournament finishing one and two on the leaderboard. Urizar won the tournament with 28 pars and a 36-hole total of 148 (72-76). Stewart, who was named The Sun Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, finished two strokes back of Urizar with a 150 (77-73). 

The No. 6 Northwood Seahawks also shot 303 to make a run for the Bees on the final day of play, but were just short as they finished three strokes back with a 615 (312-303).

No. 10 USC Beaufort (320-308=628) and No. 5 Embry-Riddle (316-312=628) finished the tournament tied for third, Johnson & Wales (354-352=706) was fifth, Warner (376-372=748) was sixth and Webber International (432-485=917) was seventh.
