FT. MYERS, Fla. - The sixth-seeded SCAD Savannah Bees accomplished something no other Sun Conference school has been able to do since The Sun Conference Tournament was renewed in 2009, beat Embry-Riddle in the opening game of the six-team event. The Bees pounded out 16 hits and scored seven runs against the Eagles, while Dylan Weber-Callahan held the Blue and Gold to just one run over nine innings to earn the victory.

The Bees fell behind 1-0 in the first, but Weber-Callahan, a 2012 first team All-Conference performer, outdueled his Eagle counterpart in Daniel Eaton, who was also a first team selection, over the final eight innings. SCAD tied things up in the third before taking a 2-1 lead in the fourth, but the big blow for SCAD came in the seventh when they pushed four runs across the plate to take a commanding 6-1 lead. A solo home run from Will Cioffi in the eighth accounted for the final of 7-1.

Weber-Callahan was tremendous for the Bees, allowing just one run while scattering eight hits in his nine-inning, complete-game performance. The sophomore threw 122 pitches in the win, his sixth of the season.

Every SCAD starter collected a hit, except for Jonathan Andrews, with Jamison Sweat leading the way with a 4-for-5 performance with an RBI and run scored. Carson Parker was 3-for-5 and Cioffi went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

The Bees will move on in the winner's bracket to play the loser of game three in tomorrow's second game at 2 p.m.

Embry-Riddle will try to avoid elimination when they play the loser of game two tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
