LAKE WALES, Fla. – No. 1 ranked SCAD Savannah took home the 2014 Women’s Golf Conference title on Sunday. The Bees fired a 950 total (311-320-319) to lock down their third straight conference championship.
The three-day event was held in Lake Wales, Fla. at the par-72 6,091 yard Lake Wales Country Club and hosted by Embry-Riddle, Warner and Webber International.
SCAD Savannah finished 14 strokes ahead of runner-up No. 12 ranked South Carolina Beaufort (320-319-325=964). No. 5 ranked Northwood rounded out the top three teams with a 972 total (321-323-328). ERAU finished in fourth with a 54-hole score of 979 (328-316-335), while Southeastern rounded out the top five teams with a 1005 total (335-322-348).
Individually, Alzane Urizar from SCAD Savannah finished atop the leaderboard with a six-over par 222 total (72-78-72). Sofia Molinaro from SCAD Savannah took home the runner-up spot with a 230 total (75-77-78), while Bri La Foca from Northwood rounded out the top three golfers with a 232 total (72-83-77).
The teams now await the announcement of the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship qualifiers, the national championship will be held at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb., from May 20-23.
Following the conference tournament Sunday All-Conference awards were announced.
