Keiser, Warner Advance to Men's Tennis Finals

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. – The finals of The Sun Conference Men’s Tennis Championship Presented by Olympus Insurance are set as no. 1 seed Keiser and no. 2 seed Warner advanced with wins in Thursday’s semifinals at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park.  Keiser defeated fourth seeded SCAD Savannah 5-0 in the first semifinal, then Warner topped no. 2 seed Southeastern 5-1.

The Sun Conference Men’s Tennis Championship Finals will be played at 9 a.m. on Friday at the Crandon Park Tennis Center.

Keiser ran out to a 3-0 lead after doubles competition led by the number one doubles team of Rafael Lenz and Shaquille Taylor who defeated Sean Hajdu and Quentin Staley of SCAD Savannah 8-2.  In number two doubles, Ignacio Osse and Guilherme Cunha defeated Yulin Liu and Josh Tewes-McCoy 9-8 with a 7-5 tiebreaker win.  Nicolas Guershanik and Arthur Bonnard topped Kenta Naka and Corrie Pickering in number three doubles.

The Seahawks then finished off the win with a victory in number four singles by Arthur Bonnaud 6-0, 6-2 over Daiki Naka and a 6-1, 6-0 win over Quentin Staley in number five singles.

In the second semifinal, Warner opened with a 2-1 win in doubles play.  Rafael A. Coutinho and Rafael E. Coutinho, the 13th ranked doubles team in the nation, defeated SEU’s Jordan Harris and Max Nguyen 8-3.  Francisco Perefan and Renan Gambin topped Noah Rawls and Aaron Skingley 8-7 for Warner’s second doubles win.  Southeastern won the number two doubles as Lucca Marcheschi and Andrew Dickens won 8-4 over WU’s Rafael Da Luz and Guillaume de Vauxclairs.

Warner finished off the win in singles play as Rafael A. Coutinho won 6-1, 6-1 in number one singles, Guillaume de Vauxclairs won 6-2, 6-1 in number two singles, and Renan Gambin won 6-4, 6-3 in number three singles.
