KEY BISCAYNE, Fla.—The top two women’s tennis teams in The Sun Conference secured all seven first-team spots on the all-conference list.
Postseason honors for the 2017 season were announced at the annual conference tournament banquet, held at the Crandon Park Players’ Lounge.
For the second year in a row, SCAD-Savannah’s Camille Gbaguidi was named the Player of the Year, posting an unbeaten season, and is ranked first in the ITA NAIA Singles Ranking. Gbaguidi remains unbeaten in three years in Sun Conference play.
Teammates joining her on the first-team are Paige Murdock, Julia Albuquerque, Valerie Droop, and Korina Rovira. All six starters for the Bees received all-conference honors as Johanna Weber was named to the second-team.
Megane Bianco and Julianna Heino of Keiser were the other two first-team selections, and were named Doubles Team of the Year. The tandem was 20-7 this year, which included a 6-0 mark in conference matches, and were 15-3 at the top spot in the lineup.
The Seahawks also placed Samantha Guy and Juliana Goncalves on the second team.
Additionally, KU coach Daniel Finn was selected as the Coach of the Year, guiding the Seahawks to a second-place finish in the league, and a national ranking of fourth.
