Wild Comeback Sends Keiser Back to Title Game

Faces Southeastern Monday at 11 a.m.

FORT MYERS, Fla.—(Bracket) The defending Sun Conference Baseball Tournament champions are back in the final day of play, following an incredible comeback win over St. Thomas
 
Keiser and Southeastern are the only remaining teams after the third day of play at City of Palms Park.
 
The Seahawks trailed St. Thomas 10-0 heading to the bottom of the seventh. Keiser scored seven runs on three hits, and took advantage of five walks and hit by pitches to get back into contention. A bases-loaded double by Reyni Olivero cleared the bases to make it a three-run game heading to the eighth.
 
Five different Bobcat pitchers faced a batter in the seventh before ending the inning.
 
St. Thomas picked up an insurance run in the eighth on an RBI groundout by David Palenzuela to lead 11-7.
 
Gabby Mundo’s two-run home run following a sacrifice fly brought Keiser within a run (11-10) heading to the ninth.
 
With one out and a runner on, Jack Curtis drove a 1-2 pitch over the left field wall to give KU the walk-off win.
 
This marks the first walk-off home run in tournament history, and the largest deficit overcome in tournament history.
 
Keiser will face Southeastern, which moved to 3-0 on the weekend with an 8-2 win over Webber International.
 
The Warriors eliminated Thomas with an 8-5 win in the first game of the day, led by three-hit efforts from Manny Rodriquez and Sjaghbar Martis.
 
Luis Diaz and Gerald Ceballos each had three-hit performances in the final game of the day to lead the Fire. Each also drove in a pair of runs. Diaz currently leads the tournament in batting average at .571 with eight hits.
 
Jamal Wilson threw eight innings, striking out eight and walking two.
 
Through three days of play, Southeastern has posted the highest team batting average at .314, and the top team ERA at 2.67.
 
Keiser has posted the top opponent batting average at .200.
 
The final day of play begins Monday at 11 a.m. If Keiser wins, the two teams will play again at 3 p.m. to decide the title. The game will be streamed live via Stretch Internet.
