TSC Baseball Championship - Day Two Recap
Game 4: No. 6 Thomas 3, No. 2 Southeastern 6
The second seeded Fire took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, capped off by Dan Valerio’s two-run double down the left field line.
The Night Hawks got a run back in the second on Justin Young’s RBI double to left center, but Southeastern responded in the bottom half with two runs while adding another run in the third to stretch their lead to 6-1.
The score held until Thomas tallied a run in the sixth on Taylor Westbrook’s two-out RBI single to right center and another run on Landon Boyette’s RBI groundout to second in the seventh, climbing within 6-3. However, the Fire silenced the Thomas bats in the final two innings to preserve the 6-3 victory and advancing in the tournament.
Valerio led the Fire at the plate with his 3-for-4 afternoon, including two doubles and a pair of RBIs. Ivan Nunez and Manuel Mesa each added a pair of hits. Jordan Scott improved to 10-1 on the year, striking out five while allowing three runs over seven innings of work. Nick Moisant shut the door on the Night Hawks, tossing two shutout innings while earning his first save of the season.
The Night Hawks were led by Chase Hinson’s 2-for-3 day at the plate, including a run scored. On the Daniel Williams pitched eight complete, while striking out two in the loss, dropping to 7-5 on the year.
Game 5: No. 1 St. Thomas 13, No. 4 Keiser 2
The top seeded Bobcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Sergio Lopez’ two-run single to center, and widened their advantage to three in the fourth as Randy Oliva delivered a two-out RBI single through the left side.
STU broke the game open in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs, highlighted by Jackie Urbaez’ two-run double to right, stretching their lead to 8-0.
The fourth-seeded Seahawks pushed across their first run of the ballgame in the bottom of the seventh as Miguel Casanueva scored from first on a St. Thomas error, but the Bobcats stretched their lead back to eight in the eighth as Elih Marrero connected on the tournament’s first home run, a solo shot to left center.
Keiser scored their second and final run of the game in the bottom of the eighth before the Bobcats responded with four runs in the ninth, winning 13-2.
The Bobcats were led offensively by Marrero’s 3-for-5 day at the plate, including a double and a home run while driving in three. Urbaez and Lopez also finished with three hits and three RBI’s apiece. Chris Rodriguez advances to 10-1 on the mound, striking out seven over seven innings of work.
Seven different Seahawks tallied a hit in the contest, with Faneyte delivering the lone RBI for Keiser. On the mound, Alex Perez suffered his first loss of the season, striking out two in four innings of work while dropping to 5-1.
Game 6: No. 5 Webber 4, No. 3 Florida Memorial 3
Both clubs exchanged runs in the first inning before the third-seeded Lions claimed a 2-1 lead in the top of the second as Raymond Guerrero lifted a sacrifice fly to left, driving in Argenis Hernandez, who reached on a fielder’s choice.
The score held until the bottom of the sixth when the Warriors tied the game as Chris Medina came in to score on a fielder’s choice after leading off the inning with a single up the middle. However, the Lions quickly responded in the top of the seventh, retaking a 3-2 lead on Axel Gomez two-out RBI single through the right side.
Again finding itself behind a run in the eighth inning, Webber tied the game for a third time with an Esquivel single to left field scoring Begg, who reached base with two outs after a dropped third strike.
Langston Provitt then won it for the Warriors as he launched a walk-off home run to left field on the second pitch of the bottom of the ninth.
Webber International registered ten hits in the game, and were led by Coleman’s 3-for-4 game at the plate. After starting pitcher

Doug Pearl entered in relief for five innings, allowing one run on seven hits, walking one and striking out four Lions' batters.
For the Lions, Sergio Chil’s 3-for-4 game at the plate, including his two doubles and an RBI led the way for the Lions. On the mound, Edgar Aparacio struck out four in the loss, pitching eight complete innings before allowing the home run in the ninth, and dropping to 4-3 on the season.
