2018-19 ALL-SUN CONFERENCE MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAMS ANNOUNCED

AVE MARIA, Fla. (Feb. 20, 2019) – The 2018-19 All-Sun Conference Men’s Basketball Teams were announced this afternoon as voted on by the league’s 10 head coaches. This year’s teams feature 10 first-team selections and 10 second-team honorees.
Ave Maria led all teams with three first team all-conference honorees in Romello Bates, Leo Behrend, and Gianpaolo Riccio. Southeastern had the most all-conference selections with four, including first team honoree Josiah Barsh. Six other teams had student-athletes recognized on the first team.
Coastal Georgia was represented by Jaylen Smallwood, Keiser by Andrija Matic, St. Thomas by Justin Brown, and Thomas by Joshua Scott. Warner’s Trae Graham and Webber’s Tommie Luke each finished as first team all-conference selections.
The Sun Conference Specialty Awards for Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Champion of Character will be announced Thursday. Sun Conference All-Academic will also be released Thursday night.
Overall, nine different schools placed at least one player among the group of 20 that make up the first- and second-team all-conference units.
The semifinals of the 2019 Sun Conference Men’s Basketball Championship will take place on Friday, February 22, in Lake Wales, Fla. The first of the two semifinal games, a 6 p.m. tip, will feature top-seed and host Warner taking on five-seed Coastal Georgia. The second semifinal will put two-seed Southeastern against three-seed Ave Maria. The second semifinal will tip around 8 p.m.
