Johnson & Wales leads after 18 Holes at Lake Jovita

DADE CITY, Fla.—No. 10 Johnson & Wales holds a one-shot lead after the first round of play at The Sun Conference Championship.
 
The Wildcats were three-over as a team after 18 holes with Cody Booska the low score on the roster at 71. Jared Silva is tied for eighth at even-par. JWU shot an average of 4.16 on the Par 4 holes and 4.7 on the Par 5 holes.
 
Keiser and Southeastern are tied for second with scores of 292 and Coastal Georgia and Thomas are fourth at 295.
 
A total of 11 players are at or under par after the first round with Southeastern’s Andres Padilla leading with a first round total of 67. Padilla led the field in Par 4 scoring at 3.7.
 
Coastal Georgia’s Chip Thompson, Keiser’s Carl Fosaas, and St. Thoma’s Juan Pablo Arrazola are a shot back at four-under, and Thomas’ Joe Bannon is fifth at 69. Arrazola led the field in Par 3 scoring at 2.5 and Thompson in Par 5 scoring at 4.
 
The 50 players posted 127 birdies and three eagles in the first round and posted an average score of 75.3.
 
The second round begins at 8 a.m. on Monday.
