DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Florida Memorial’s George Gray was selected as The Sun Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week on Dec. 6. A junior guard from Miami, Fla., Gray led the Lions to two wins on the week, averaging 26 points, 3.5 rebounds, five assists and two steals per contest.
Both of the Florida Memorial’s victories were against conference opponents. Against St. Thomas, Gray tallied 26 points, five assists and two steals to lead the Lions to a 78-62 win. He shot 80 percent (8-of-10) from the field, including a perfect 4-for-4 from the three-point line, and was 6-of-7 in free throws. Against Johnson & Wales, Gray posted another 26-point performance and added seven rebounds, six assists and two steals as FMU topped the Wildcats 102-88.
