DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – For the second week in a row, Ave Maria sophomore Emily Huber was tabbed as The Sun Conference women’s basketball Player of the Week after leading the Gyrenes to a pair of victories during the week ending Jan. 9. The Indianapolis, Ind. native averaged 24.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and five steals as Ave Maria improved to 9-4 on the year.
Against conference foe Southeastern, Huber outscored the entire Fire team in the first 20 minutes, tallying 23 points to Southeastern’s 22 first-half points. She finished with 27 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field, 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc and a 5-of-7 clip from the free throw line. She also contributed seven rebounds, five assists and six steals in the win.
Huber totaled 22 points, six boards, three assists and four steals in Ave Maria’s 72-55 defeat of Edward Waters. She played 39 minutes in that contest.
