DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - St. Thomas' Maddie Cummings has been selected as The Sun Conference women's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 23, 2010. Cummings helped lead the Bobcats to a perfect 3-0 week with wins over Johnson & Wales (76-26), Edward Waters(102-53) and Southeastern (73-40).
Cummings, a junior guard from Melbourne, Fla., averaged 20.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.3 steals in three victories. Cummings dropped 36 points and grabbed five boards against Edward Waters. shooting 12-of-15 from the floor and an impressive 12-of-13 from behind the arc. She broke two St. Thomas records against the Tigers, including the single-game scoring mark with 36. She now ranks second in NAIA history in single-game three-point shooting percentage with 92-percent.
