DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Sun Conference has named Embry-Riddle's Steve Sabins as the conference Player of the Week for games played from Feb. 14-20, 2011.
Sabins, a senior third baseman from Austin, Texas, had an outstanding week for the sixth-ranked Eagles. Sabins hit .538 (14-26) in six games, driving in 13 runs while scoring five of his own. He had five extra-base hits, including two round-trippers and a triple.
Sabins is currently on a 10-game hitting streak, stretching back to the third game of the season. His on-base percentage of .538 helped the Eagles to a 4-2 week, and he was also 3-for-4 stealing bases. The Eagle third baseman had two games with 5+ RBIs.
