DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle’s Peter Francis was tabbed as the second men’s tennis Sun Conference Player of the Week for 2011, the league office announced on Mar. 7. Francis won all three of his singles matches on the week and was 1-2 in doubles.

Against No.10 Concordia (N.Y.) Francis and Chris Freeman suffered a tough 9-8 (7-5) loss in doubles play, but Francis rebounded to defeat Tamas Dobrotka 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7-1). Against St. Thomas, Francis and Freeman moved up to the top doubles spot for the first time this season and topped Adrian Escarate and Nicolas Etienne 8-3. Playing his first match of the year at No. 3 singles, Francis downed Andrew Rifkin to lead ERAU to its third conference win of the year. His final match of the week Francis and Freeman fall to Alessandro Sarr and Vlad Cirla of No. 6 Lynn 8-6. Once again, Francis was able to bounce back for a singles win, downing NCAA Division II No. 9 Sarra in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
