DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Southeastern goalkeeper Karleigh Smoak has been selected as The Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 9, the league office announced on Monday. Smoak, a sophomore from Melrose, Fla. totaled eight saves and allowed just two goals in 187 minutes of action to lead the Fire to two wins on the week.
In a 2-1 win against Johnson & Wales, Smoak had five saves in 97 minutes as the Fire topped the Wildcat 2-1 in overtime. Southeastern topped Ave Maria by the same 2-1 margin and in that contest, Smoak collected three saves.
