DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – For the second week in a row, Johnson & Wales sophomore Craig Wong was tabbed as The Sun Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Wildcats a 2-1 record during the week ending Feb. 12. Wong averaged 31.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals during the three-game stretch and was 91.7 percent from the free throw line.
Wong started the week out with a 30-point out to lead JWU to a 68-67 upset of 23rd-ranked Southeastern. A few days later, the Davie, Fla. native almost helped team pull off another upset as the fell by a slim 73-71 margin to No. 15 St. Thomas. Wong was 10-of-18 from the field in that game, including 4-of-6 in threes and 8-of-9 from the charity stripe. He closed out the week with 33 points, nine rebounds and three assists on 12-of-24 shooting from the floor and 8-of-9 from the free throw line as the Wildcats edged Embry-Riddle 104-102 in overtime.
