DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle freshman JR Leonik became the first student-athlete to be named The Sun Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for 2012. Leonik played at No. 2 doubles and No. 6 singles in the Eagles’ only match of the week against NCAA II No. 8 Rollins. Leonik teamed up with Chris Freeman for an 8-3 doubles win over Lucas Jovita and Bernardo Barroso. The freshman rebounded from a loss in the first set to defeat Jason Alabaster 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 and clinch the Eagles’ win over the Tars.
