DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - For the fourth and final time in the 2011-12 Sun Conference women's basketball season, Ave Maria's Sandy Jenkins has been selected as the Player of the Week. Jenkins was selected by The Sun Conference for her performance in games played Feb. 13-19, 2012.
Jenkins helped lead her Gyrene squad to the regular season championship last week with wins over Southeastern (72-67), Florida Memorial (72-50) and #14 St. Thomas (72-51). The Holly Hill, Fla. native averaged 17.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.3 blocks and 3.0 steals in AMU's three games. Jenkins saved her best offensive output for the NAIA Game of the Week as #19 AMU took on #14 St. Thomas in which she scored 25 points and pulled down seven boards.
