DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Kevin Maloney becomes the first Embry-Riddle Eagle to earn Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week honors in 2012. The junior earned the accolade for his performances during the week of Mar. 11, 2012.
Maloney, a junior from Dunedin, Fla., completely shut down two high-powered and highly ranked offenses this past week. He tossed a 7.2 inning outing against seventh-ranked Cumberland (Tenn.), allowing just two runs while scattering nine hits and striking out eight Bulldogs. Maloney then followed that with a complete game shutout of Indiana Tech (RV), surrendering just five hits in seven innings while fanning six. The left-hander is second in the nation with six wins, and leads the conference in ERA with a 1.24 mark.
