DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Sun Conference announced the first weekly award winners in the sport of outdoor track & field on Monday, and Embry-Riddle's Monte Willett was named the men's outdoor field athlete of the week.
Willett posted an "A" standard qualifying mark in the pole vault with a height of 4.90m at the USF Bulls Invitational on Friday. Willett placed ninth in the event out of 30 athletes, 22 of whom were either NCAA Division I student-athletes or unattached semi-professional athletes. Willett's mark is currently the top mark in the pole vault in the NAIA this season.
