DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – St. Thomas goalkeeper Christina Salazar was tabbed as The Sun Conference women’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 7. A junior from Miami, Fla., Salazar helped the Lady Bobcats to two wins on the week allowing just one goal in 180 minutes of play.
Following injuries to the Lady Bobcats’ regular goalkeepers, Salazar took the field for the first time in her career. Against Southeastern, she surrendered one goal, while recording four saves as STU topped Southeastern 2-1. She followed that up with a shutout in the STU’s 8-0 defeat of Ave Maria.
