DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The first 2013 Sun Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week award goes to Embry-Riddle's Stetson Nelson. The conference sports information directors chose Nelson from a pool of nominees from around the conference.
Nelson, a sophomore from Leesburg, Fla., was superb for the Eagles in their series finale against Southeastern on Saturday. In just his second start as an Eagle Nelson tossed a complete game four-hitter against the Fire, allowing just one unearned run in the process. The Winthrop transfer struck out a career-high eight batters and did not walk anyone en route to the victory.
