DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - For the first time in 2013, Matilda Ojaniemi of Northwood has earned Sun Confernence Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors. Ojaniemi helped the Seahawks to two crucial wins in conference play last week, including a road win over No. 1 Embry-Riddle.
Ojaniemi helped secure a pair of crucial Sun Conference wins for the Lady Seahawks over ranked opponents, including their first-ever win over a No. 1 team. Against top-ranked Embry-Riddle, Ojaniemi stopped three shots in the Lady Seahawks overtime win. In a 2-1 win at No. 24 Thomas, she gave up one goal on a penalty kick, while registering four saves.
