DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - For the second time this season Atavia Blake of Northwood is The Sun Conference Player of the Week. Blake also earned the honor on Jan. 20.
Blake posted three straight double-doubles for the Lady Seahawks this week, giving her seven in the last eight games, and eight total on the season, second-most in The Sun Conference. In a battle against Ave Maria, Atavia posted game-highs in points (24) and rebounds (11), followed by a 17-point, 11-rebound effort on the road at Thomas University. Blake capped off the week with 21 points and 13 rebounds at Florida Memorial. Over the three games, Blake shot 56.1% (23-41) from floor and 80% (16-20) from the free throw line. On the season, Atavia ranks in the top 10 in The Sun in field goal percentage (1st; .536), rebounding (3rd; 8.2) , scoring (8th; 13.7), and free throw percentage (9th; .712).
