DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Sun Conference named Embry-Riddle’s Patrick Besch the league’s Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 16. Besch was 2-0 in doubles and 2-0 in singles against a pair of NCAA II opponents.
The senior from Mainz, Germany partnered with Jaime Sanchez-Canamares Rios for a 9-7 doubles win over Flagler’s Inigo Landaluce and Fabio Ferrauti, and turned in a 6-1, 6-2 performance against Uriel Oquendo at No. 4 singles in that same contest.
Two days later, Besch and Sanchez-Canamares teamed up for an 8-2 upset of the 20th-ranked pair of Malte Christesen and Robin Marchione of No. 9 Rollins, and Besch clinched the Eagles win over the Tars with a 7-5, 6-4 defeat of No. 34 Jason Alabaster.
