DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - For the second time this season and fourth time in his career, Stetson Nelson of Embry-Riddle has been named The Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week. Nelson was selected by the league's sports information directors.
Nelson continues to post incredible numbers for the third-ranked Eagles, going 2-0 in 10.2 innings over ERAU's spring break week. Nelson threw 1.2 innings of relief against 15th-ranked Lindsey Wilson on the road, allowing just one hit against the Blue Raiders, earning the win in a 5-3 decision. Nelson followed that with his third complete game and third shutout of the season against Indiana Tech on Friday, flirting with a no-hitter as he surrendered just two hits (taking a no-hitter into the sixth) while fanning eight Warrior batters. Nelson leads The Sun Conference in ERA at 0.83, as well as opponent batting average (.154), runs allowed (8) and wins (6), while ranking second in innings pitched (65.0) and walks allowed (6).
