DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Sun Conference announced Monday that Embry-Riddle's Ellie Staker has been named the Women's Track Athlete of the Week.

At the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., Ellie Staker made the Eagle history books with an automatic qualifying time in the 1500m. Staker crossed the finish line in a school record time of 4:20.91, nine seconds faster than her previous school record. Staker used the fastest time in the NAIA this season to finish in third place out of 44 primarily NCAA I competitors.

Staker returned to Daytona Beach, Fla. on Saturday to compete in the 4x400m relay at the ERAU Spike's Classic. Staker and her teammates posted an NAIA "B" standard finishing first in 3:55.86, the third-fastest time in the NAIA this season.
