DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Shane Jones of Southeastern is the first Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the 2014 season. Jones was selected by the league's sports information directors for his performance in a pair of games for the Fire.
In 180 minutes of play this season, the Fire have not allowed a goal, thanks in part to the defense of Jones. A first team All-TSC selection in 2013, Jones has been a key cog in SEU's back line. In addition to keeping attackers at bay, Jones recorded a pair of goals in a 6-0 win on Saturday over Florida College.
