DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Warner linebacker Loronza Smith has been chosen as The Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 6-12. For Smith, this is his second straight award and third overall in 2014.
Smith led the Royals' defense with 19 total tackles in a dramatic 48-45 last-minute victory over NCAA II Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday. The tackles are a new program high and are also the most tackles in a game in The Sun Conference this season. Three of Smith's stops came in the Panther backfield including one sack. Smith now holds three of the top four tackling performances in the conference this season.
