DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - For the second straight week, Embry-Riddle's Zac Grotz is The Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week. Grotz was selected out of a poll of candidates by the league's sports information directors.
Grotz was nearly unhittable last week, pitching 9.2 innings over the course of three games, allowing just one hit. The senior righty was fantastic against the NCAA II No. 12 Saint Leo Lions on the road, shutting down the high-powered offense which collected just one hit while Grotz earned the win. Grotz then had two perfect outings against the Night Hawks over the weekend, striking out seven batters in 3.2 innings of relief, without allowing a hit and picking up a save in ERAU's first game on Saturday. On the week, Grotz posted a perfect 0.00 ERA and continues to lead the league with his 0.86 season ERA.
