DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Florida Memorial sophomore Kyle LaMatta was named the Florida Sun Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
The sophomore centerfielder batted .462 (12-for-26) on the week with a .885 slugging percentage. He finished the week with three doubles, four triples and 14 RBI and was a perfect four-for-four on the base paths.
A native of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, LaMatta drove in three runs in a loss to King (Tenn.) and two more against Dominican (N.Y.).He had two hits and five RBI, including the game-winner, against the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and also delivered the game-winning hit in a three-hit, four-RBI performance against Northwood (Fla.).
