DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle’s Derrick Pyles was named the Florida Sun Conference Player of the Week after leading the Eagles to a 5-0 record last week. Pyles (Temecula, Calif.) batted .526 (10-for-19) with a .895 slugging percentage and tallied eight runs and 12 RBI with two doubles, a triple and a home run. The senior outfielder had two hits in each of the Eagles’ five games and was a perfect three-for-three on the base paths.
After scoring three runs and driving in three against Edward Waters on Wednesday, Pyles followed with a two-for-three, five-RBI performance and hit his team-high fourth triple in the first conference game against Florida Memorial.
Pyles, who drove in the game-winning runs against Southeastern and in the first game against Florida Memorial, leads the squad in RBI (38) and runs scored (45), and is batting a team-high .413 on the year.
