A native of Springfield, Ill., Cordier held the Royals to just two hits, struck out five and yielded three walks in seven innings on the hill.

Cordier, who is undefeated at 5-0, notched his third league shutout since moving into the starting rotation and has not give up a run in his last 21 innings. He also has three saves on the year.
