For the second straight game, running back Marques Burgess powered the Seahawks to a conference victory as Keiser defeated Ave Maria, 27-21 on Saturday. The native of Fort Pierce, Florida, registered a career-high 234 yards rushing on 36 carries with two touchdowns. It was Burgess' fourth 100-yard game of the season. His 234 yards were the second-most by a running back in program history and increased the Seahawk back's career rushing total to 4,759 yards. On Saturday, he surpassed Kevin Smith (UCF - 4,679) for the most career rushing yards by a running back from a collegiate team from the state of Florida. Currently second in the nation in rushing yards, Burgess has rushed for over 1,000 yards in two straight seasons with 1,104 yards this year. His two touchdowns increased his season total to 11 (No. 8 in the nation).
