DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Northwood's Katie Vican Vican averaged 21.3 points and 5.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.6 steals to collect her third Florida Sun Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors of 2006-07, conference officials announced today. She helped the first-year Seahawks post a perfect 3-0 week improving to 13-9 overall and picked up two conference wins to improve to 5-0 in the FSC.
Vican was 25-of-37 (.676) from the floor during the week and 13-of-14 (.929) from the free-throw line. She began week with 18 points and six rebounds in 67-50 victory over cross-town rival Palm Beach Atlantic going 7-of-11 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line against the Sailfish. Vican followed that performance with 25 points (9-of-13 from the field and 7-for-7 from the free-throw line), eight rebounds and six assists in a 69-64 triumph over Warner Southern. She closed out the week with 21 points (9-of-13 shooting), three boards and three steals against defending FSC champion Webber International.
