Howard Walls began the 2008 season with a first-place, ERAU-record and 'A'-qualifying time of 8.27 in the 60m hurdles at the Winter Sun #1. The junior from North Augusta, S.C. earned his ticket to indoor nationals in the 55m hurdles the following week at the Tom Jones Memorial Classic as he finished the event in an 'A'-standard time of 7.79. At the ERAU Indoor/Outdoor Challenge the following week, Walls was able to comeback and win the 60m hurdles in 8.50 despite stumbling off the blocks and beginning the race behind the other six competitors.
