DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Junior designated hitter, Matt Steele was named the Florida Sun Conference Player of the Week after his strong performance for Embry-Riddle this past week, announced Tuesday by the Conference office.
Steele, the lead-off hitter for the Eagles, marked three multi-hit games on the week, with a .615 batting average and a slugging percentage of .692. He scored two of the Eagle's four runs in their 4-3 win over Webber International, including the game winning run. His performance at the plate led the team to their first three-game sweep of the year and moved them into second in the FSC.
Other nominees: Oren Suess, Warner Southern; Drew Powell, Northwood; and Anthony Paniagua, St. Thomas.
