DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle senior Mislav Hizak was named the Florida Sun Conference men’s tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday. Hizak won at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles to lead the Embry-Riddle men to a 5-2 win over Concordia (N.Y.) ranked 14
th in NCAA II.
Hizak teamed up with Konstantin Lazarov in doubles action and the second-ranked pair bested the fourth-ranked tandem of Alex Grubin and Rodrigo Texieira, 8-6.
In singles, Hizak, ranked No. 1in the NAIA, faced off against Grubin, ranked No. 1in NCAA II. Hizak, who defeated Grubin twice during the 2007 calendar year, made it three in a row, downing Concorida’s top singles player in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
