DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Conference office announced on Tuesday that Daniel Speerin of Northwood was named the Florida Sun Conference Player of the Week after leading his team to the top of the FSC.
Speerin hit .609 on the week, with five games hitting above .500. In the three game sweep of Edward Waters he went 9-for-13 with two home runs. On the week he averaged 1.2 runs, 2.0 RBI and 2.3 hits per game. He totaled 14 hits, seven runs, two doubles, three home runs and 12 RBI's in six games.
On the season Speerin is hitting .381 with 43 hits and 33 RBI's.
Other nominees include: Aaron Tea, Embry-Riddle; Nick Martinez, St. Thomas; and Matt Cox, SCAD.
