DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Aaron Varnum of Embry-Riddle has been named the Florida Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week after picking up two wins and a save over the last week of play. This was announced Tuesday by the Conference office.
Varnum came in as a reliever against Flagler College, picking up his NAIA leading ninth save of the year, striking out four and giving up one hit. Against No. 16 Northwood, he was the clutch pitcher, coming into both games when his team was either down or tied. Varnum picked up the win on Friday, pitching two complete innings as his team came back to win in the ninth. He charted win number two on Saturday, where he came into the game when it was tied at two and struck out four. Varnum gave up no runs and one hit on the week, while charting nine strikeouts in 5.20 innings pitched.
Varnum moved his overall recrod to 6-2 with nine saves. His ERA sits at 0.40.
