DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Sun Conference announced Monday that Corey Cooke, a senior from Northwood has been selected as the first baseball Player of the Week of the 2009 season.
Cooke, hit .714 on the week going 5-for-7 from the batters box. He had one home run and two of his hits were doubles while scoring five runs in the Seahawk's 3-0 week. Not only did he move around the bases he charted four RBI. Cooke also drew five walks.
Other nominees include: Anthony Angulo, St. Thomas; Alvaro Bastos, St. Thomas; M.J. Wilson, Webber International; John Michael Crawford, SCAD; and R.J. Neal, South Carolina-Beaufort.
