Sam Vazquez finished as the national runner-up in the mile event, as he crossed the finish line at the national championship in 4:08.82. He earned eight points toward the team total and was named an NAIA All-American for his performance in the event. Vazquez was also a member of the men's DMR team that earned sixth place overall at nationals.
He helped the Eagles to a fifth place finish, marking the team's highest finish ever on the national stage. Vazquez also ran to a first place finish in the 1500m at the Spike's Classic meet on March 21.
