DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Antonio Jones earned his second Sun Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week honor for the 2009-10 season after leading St. Thomas to a 1-1 record last week. Jones, who is a junior from Miami, Fla., averaged 27 points, 3.5 rebounds, three steals and 2.5 assists in two games during the week ending Jan. 31.
Jones exploded for 32 points in a 78-72 loss to 14th-ranked Northwood. Jones was 6-of-15 from the field, including 3-of-10 from three-point land, but most of his points came from the charity stripe where he was 17-for-20. He also contributed five rebounds, two assists and three steals in that game.
Against Ave Maria, Jones tallied 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field. He dished out three assists and was 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and 3-of-4 from the free throw line as the Bobcats topped the Gyrenes 70-53.
