DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Warner University senior Derrell Henderson was selected as The Sun Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week after leading the Royals to a 2-1 conference record during the week ending Feb. 7. Henderson averaged 21 points, nine rebounds and 1.7 assists and shot 52.2 percent from the field and 74.5 percent from the free throw line.
Henderson began the week with a 16-point, six-rebound performance in a 72-66 win over St. Thomas on Tuesday. On Friday, he posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards in a tough 84-82 loss to Ave Maria with the majority of his points coming from the free throw line where he was 12-of-15.
The following night, Henderson erupted for 33 points in a 96-83 victory over Florida Memorial. For the second straight game, he did most of his damage at the charity strip, going 17-for-20. He shot 8-of-11 from the field, added three assists and achieved his second double-double in as many games with 11 rebounds.
