DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Northwood freshman Patrick Horstmann earned Sun Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week honors after leading the Seahawks to three conference wins last week. Horstmann averaged 12.3 points, 11.3 boards and 1.7 assists, and shot 42.4 percent from the field and 53.8 percent from beyond the arc.
Horstmann began the week with a 10-point, 10-rebound performance in the Seahawks’ 101-52 defeat of Johnson & Wales. He converted on four of his seven field goal attempts, was 2-of-3 in three-point shooting and added three assists in that game.
Against Ave Maria, Horstmann gave Northwood 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting (3-of-5 in threes) and 11 rebounds in 34 minutes of play. He also registered two steals and was 2-for-2 from the free throw line to helps the Seahawks to a 74-58 win over the Gyrenes.
In their last game of the week, the Seahawks got 13 rebounds and six points from Horstmann as 14th-ranked Northwood edged No. 23 Warner 74-72 in overtime.
