DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – After leading the St. Thomas women’s basketball team to a pair of wins last week, Cindy Castrillon was pegged as The Sun Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 22. The senior guard averaged 22.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and totaled seven assists, a block and five steals in two games.
Castrillon began the week by scoring 18 points, including7-of-8 from the free throw line, to lead the Bobcats to a 73-69 upset of league champion Northwood. She played all 40 minutes and tallied five rebounds, six assists and three steals.
In St. Thomas’ road win over Johnson & Wales, Castrillon put up 27 points 32 minutes of action. The Miami, Fla. native also contributed four boards and two steals to the 89-36 win, and her 11-of-21 performance from the field included 5-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc.
